    Description

Guitar-O-Lin Guitar Violin Psaltery Zither Vintage.  There's not much information about the Guitar-O-Lin on the internet.  Apparently, they were manufactured in Lancaster, PA between 1920 and 1940, and reportedly sold door-to-door.  The price tag shown in one of the photos was , which equates to 2 today, using an online CPI inflation calculator for 1930.  Mind you, this instrument was sold during depression years!!  There is a Facebook video showing someone playing a Guitar-O-Lin using a bow (not included in this offering).  Here's the link: https://www.facebook.com/houseofmusicaltraditions/videos/check-out-this-antique-guitar-o-lin-that-wandered-into-the-shop-mckinleyclairemu/10158272586325225/
There are 16 "straight" strings and 16 slanted (like a psaltery) strings -- all appear to be present.  The strings are all labeled by letter and assigned number.  The instrument measures 25.5" long, 5.5" wide, and 1.5" deep.  Type of wood is unknown.  The "box" has a 2.5" diameter hole with the original label inside:  "Guitar-O-Lin, Price , Lancaster, PA."
Overall, very good condition -- a very sturdy instrument.  Strings are dirty, but I don't detect rust -- mostly tarnish.  I would say this instrument is good enough to leave as is for an interesting musical conversation piece, or well worth restoring.
